Teocalli the Prototype
Be the first to build 3 towering Teocalli temples while sending Villagers to harvest resources and Warriors to capture sacrificial victims! Choose your playstyle as a warrior tribe, a gentle gatherer tribe, or a thriving trader. Just be careful not to lose your heart!
The word Teocalli means “god-house” in the Aztecs’ native language, Nahuatl. This game is a fun way to raise awareness of the lost culture of the Aztecs, Maya, and other Mesoamericans. With elements of territorial expansion, trade systems, and a dash of sacrifice, you control your tribes fate in this Catan-like, turn based game. Will you be a warmonger or the cautious defender?

Gameplay
If you enjoy Catan you’re going to love the dynamic gameplay of Teocalli. During play you may move villagers for the chance to collect much needed resource cards. Be on the lookout for enemy warriors! Unless you have an army of your own, opponents may use their warriors to capture and sacrifice your villagers. Be sure to return the favor. Once you do capture your own victims, sacrifice them at your completed Teocalli temples for blessings from the gods.
Use your villagers to collect resources, disrupt your enemies through warfare, and ultimately build 3 finished “god houses” to win the game. Every game plays dynamically and every player may develop their own, unique strategies for success.
When warriors occupy tiles shared by an opponent a fight may break out. During fights, warriors play out combat through dice rolls. The player with the higher roll result will capture one of the contesting warrior tokens on that tile. If a villager loses a fight the villager is captured, but if the villager wins they retreat to an adjacent tile.
WARNING: Actual human sacrifice is not encouraged. Blood not included.
